There are so many different types of shoes on the Viva La Diva website with many new trends popping up all the time, so here’s a useful guide to all the different types of shoes.

Ankle strap shoes – a recent shoe fashion trend that features a strap around the ankle for fashion and comfort, making the shoe or sandals fit much better. Lots of strappy sandals are ankle strap shoes, but there are also now many sandals with cuffs and court shoes with ankle straps.

Court shoes – typically a full shoe with a closed back, some court shoes have a rounded toe, others a pointy toes, while lots have cute peep toe. A great versatile shoe in lots of styles.

Flat shoes – pretty simple, but flat shoes do come in all shapes and sizes including ballet pumps, ladies’ brogues, loafers, slip on shoes and much more. Flats are certainly back.

Flip flops – they’re the perfect summer footwear for the beach or out and about, and flip flops aren’t just flip flops anymore, they’re bedazzled with diamantes, jewels and sequins!

Mules – basically a style of slip on shoes that don’t have any straps around the sides or back of the shoes, come in lots of styles from flat to high heeled mules.

Platform shoes – a popular style of shoe that first made it big in the 70s with the boho look, platform shoes have a thick sole that is typically approximately 1in although there are more extreme styles.

Sandals – sandals come in all shapes and sizes from gladiator sandals and summer sandals to strappy sandals and flip flops. One of the most popular and wide ranging shoe types.

Shoe boots – one of this year’s hottest shoe trends, shoe boots also known as shooties and booties are taller than a shoe but shorter than an ankle boot and are oh so perfect.

Slingbacks – a really comfortable and well fitting style of shoe, slingbacks feature a strap around the back of the foot that firmly holds it in place, they come in strappy and full shoe designs.

Stilettos – they’re the ultimate sexy shoe design with a tall pointy heel that tapers towards the end, they generally come in court shoe or peep toe designs but also sandals.

Wedges – it seems like ladies’ wedges are everywhere right now and it’s no wonder why, they give extra height with their chunky sole and they’re really comfortable to walk in.

She’s the ultimate glamour puss, perfectly preened and always looking oh so fabulous, and that’s why The Diva adores Victoria Beckham’s fashion sense. And it was no different when Posh was spotted wearing some utterly amazing thigh high boots recently.

With their pointy toes, tall heels and stretching all the way up to her thighs, over the knee boots are just perfect with Posh’s beautifully toned pins.

We all know how much The Diva loves her killer high heels and she was astonished when she heard about a course at a college in south London offering courses in how to walk in high heels.

Five women between the ages of 16 and 50 enrolled on the six week course at South Thames College where they were taught how to get the perfect high heel walk. Run by Chyna Whyne, the course also looked at the Alexander Technique to help women move more naturally and improve posture, which helps to reduce the risk of developing back pain from wearing high heels.

The Diva loves the sound of this! Not only do you get to learn how to walk better in high heels but it’s also really good for your health too. If you don’t have time for the course, here are some of Whyne’s tips:

1. Foot exercises – do ankle rotations, pointing and flexing, and rising on the balls of the feet
2. Make sure you buy the right size of shoe
3. Lead with the ball of your foot when walking and keep your feet slightly turned out
4. Relax the knees or your lower back can lock
5. Understand the Alexander Technique

She’s known for her eccentric style and Lady Gaga certainly stayed true to her colours this weekend after being spotted wearing some rather unusual high heels…heel less shoes! With huge platforms and no sign of a heel, it’s quite astonishing that she could actually walk in these heeless shoes.

But she’s not the only celebrity to be seen in these heeless shoes, Posh has also previously been spotting wear some rather unusual heels in a similar style. The Victoria Beckham heeless shoes first set the trend back in 2008 so maybe Lady Gaga is trying to bring back a revival…?!

Ok, so you might love these unusual high heels but they’re probably a little bit OTT, celebrities might be able to pull it off but it just doesn’t quite have the same effect.
